AAA Texas: Statewide Gas Price Average Increases Two Cents

Gas Prices

(Coppell, TX) – The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.11 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is two cents more than last week and 27 cents more per gallon than last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Dallas are paying the most on average at $2.17 per gallon while drivers in San Antonio and Texarkana are paying the least at $2.03 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.29 which is the same as last week and 30 cents more per gallon than last year.

Gas prices remained stable to flat over the past week with averages in most states moving by a penny or two. Markets in the South and Southeast continue to post some of the lowest prices for retail gasoline in the nation, including South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. OPEC’s compliance to earlier agreements are in the 90 percent range, and traders will continue to watch whether OPEC and non-OPEC members make moves to further cut production in an attempt to balance the global oil supply.

“The spring season is a perfect time to look ahead and plan summer and fall travel,” said AAA Texas/New Mexico representative Sarah Schimmer. “AAA Texas travel agents and auto travel counselors at any AAA Texas branch can provide ideas and assistance with planning and booking travel for a fun and budget friendly vacation.”
