The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.64 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is five cents more when compared to this day last week and is four cents less per gallon compared to this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso and San Antonio are paying the most on average at $2.80 per gallon while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $2.45 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.08, which is four cents more when compared to this day last week and three cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year.
Drivers in Texas are seeing relatively stable gas prices as we move closer to Thanksgiving. Even with some regional fluctuations, fuel prices remain lower than a year ago and Texas has the fifth lowest price average of any state in the country. Barring any major changes in oil prices or refinery operations, drivers can expect pump prices to stay fairly steady through the holiday travel period.
“As the busy Thanksgiving travel season approaches, AAA reminds drivers to ensure their vehicles are road-trip ready to maximize fuel efficiency and prevent a breakdown,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “Check tire pressure, battery health, and fluid levels before hitting the road, and always plan ahead for potential delays.”
