The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.79 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is one cent more when compared to this day last week and is 32 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Dallas are paying the most on average at $2.95 per gallon while drivers in Lubbock and San Angelo are paying the least at $2.61 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.16, which is the same price when compared to this day last week and 35 cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year.
The summer of lower gas prices continues thanks to crude oil prices averaging around $65 a barrel. Pump prices so far in 2025 haven’t had any major spikes or dips compared to other recent years.
“When it comes to fuel prices, Texans are enjoying one of the most stable summer driving seasons in recent years,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “With crude oil prices remaining low, drivers should be able to hit the road without worrying about major swings at the pump.”
