(Irving, Texas) – AAA Texas members who own a home can now be referred to a network of pre-screened contractors for home improvement projects and emergency repairs through the new AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network. The new service has been introduced during a boom demand period for home improvement, according to Harvard University research projecting that home improvement spending will surge to $134 billion by the second quarter of 2013 compared to $121 billion in the 4th quarter of 2012.
AAA Texas’ new service will help members find contractors for mid-to-large sized home improvement and emergency repair needs. Network contractors are pre-screened and recertified annually for license, insurance and financial stability and have agreed to back their work with a two-year workmanship warranty.
The service is being provided through Crawford Contractor Connection ®, which screens and manages a network of more than 4,500 licensed contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada.
“Members continually tell us that they look to AAA to provide services that go beyond our legendary roadside assistance,” said Rhonda Wilson, vice president and general manager. “As a result, members can buy auto and home insurance, book travel, obtain a points-earning credit card, and now, through the Home Improvement & Repair Network, they can get referred to a contractor that has been pre-screened.”
The AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network is not an insurance claims-related program or a handyman service. It does cover the following general services:
- General Contractor
- Carpet/Upholstery cleaning
- Special Needs Modification
In addition, members will have 24/7 access to referrals for home emergency service providers who can assist with emergency plumbing, window board-up and roof tarping, as well as water extraction and cleaning services following flooding or water-related damage.
“We expect that this service will help reduce the worry associated with finding and selecting a contractor for mid-to-large size home improvement and emergency repairs,” added Wilson.
Members will not pay an additional fee for access to this service. It is a pilot program in the State of Texas and is being offered as a member benefit. Typically, a member can expect to be contacted within 48 hours of submitting a request through the AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network.
