AAA Texas Holds One-stop Passport Fair to Renew or Get a New Passport

AAA Texas is holding a Passport Acceptance Fair, making it easy for those needing to renew a passport or obtain a new one.

The fair will take place Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the AAA Texas branch located in the Galleria Oaks Shopping Center at 13376 Highway 183 North, Austin, Texas 78735. The event is open to the public.

Appointments are required and can be made by calling the National Passport Information Center at (877) 487-2778. A list of required personal documents, forms and fees can be found at www.travel.state.gov/passport. Attendees must bring the required documents with them to their appointment. Accepted forms of payment are checks and money orders only. Cash and credit cards will not be accepted.

“We are excited to offer this service for the first time, said Kent Livesay, vice president and general manager of AAA Texas & New Mexico. “This really is a one-stop event, allowing our members and the public to obtain a passport and passport photo all at one location.”

A passport is required for all international travelers when departing from the United States. It's also required on cruises that to the Caribbean islands or other destinations that are not territories of the United States.

Additionally, the REAL ID Act of 2005 established new standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards. Starting October 1, 2020, travelers will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other federally approved document such as a valid U.S. passport, passport card, or military ID to board domestic flights or enter military bases and most federal facilities.
